The Windward Wildcats won the Delphic league for girls tennis with Windward’s Lizzy Isgar capturing the singles title over Shannon Gibbs of Crossroads at Pasadena High School in Pasadena Thursday, Oct. 25.
Gibbs won the last encounter between the top seeded pair in September 6-1.
Isgar (26-1 in league play) defeated Shannon Gibbs of Crossroads in a match that lasted over three hours posting match scores of 4-6, 6-4, and 10-5.
Isgar was honored as the Delphic League MVP.
Isgar has qualified for CIF singles play and will represent the Delphic league as the top player in the draw.
Also advancing for the Wildcats in doubles will be Amelia Green and Kristi Hong.
Windward drew the Winner of Wildcard K in the team tennis playoff brackets and Crossroads drew Ontario Christian in the CIF Division 4 yellow bracket.
This means that there may be a chance for Isgar and Gibbs to see each other in the playoffs.
Gibbs will be playing against Ontario Christian at Brentwood High School today at 12:30 p.m.
Isgar will be playing the Winner of Wildcard K on the Mar Vista Park tennis courts Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 2:00 p.m.
