Santa Monica Police Arrest Aggressive Pair Of Panhandlers: Alert Police Blotter: Begging To Be Arrested.

The Santa Monica Police Department came across two different aggressive panhandlers, at two different locations, but with similar conclusions and circumstances on Saturday, Dec. 15.

The first one was at the Starbucks located at 2461 Santa Monica Boulevard when, at 2:27 p.m., officers came across an aggressive panhandler who, when questioned about his identity, lied to the police officers.

The officers discovered that this 30-year-old homeless man had a full extradition warrant for a larceny charge from the State of Minnesota, and he was charged with presenting a false character. He was not granted bail.

The second incident was later in the day, at 6:50 p.m., when officers who were in the area of Whole Foods in the 1200 block of Fifth Street, noticed an aggressive panhandler in the parking lot.

The officers spoke with this man and discovered that he was a parolee at large and had a warrant for damaging jail property.

This 47-year-old homeless man was arrested and charged with being a parolee at large and destruction of jail property. Bail was not provided to this man also.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
