Santa Monica College Community Ed Offers 10 Percent Discount On Spring Semester Courses:

Santa Monica College Community and Contract Education has announced it will offer a selection of about 280 spring semester courses — with a 10 percent discount being offered through Jan. 31 (with some exceptions).

Spring classes begin Feb. 11.

Alice Meyering, SMC’s program coordinator for Community and Contract Education, said the College was particularly excited to be offering new computer classes such as “MS Word and MS Excel for the Job Market” and “Impress your boss: MS Word Beyond the Basics.”

“Another great new offering is our eight-week class The Art & Technology of Filmmaking, followed by The Directorial Vision, which will cover the art of storytelling by exploring how to break down a script, scene analysis and more,” Meyering said. “We are also delighted to have Mandarin Chinese again, at an affordable price for a language that has grown in popularity.”

These classes just touch the surface of a wide array of offerings in business and career, the arts, writing, stage and screen, food and dining, fitness and dance, and entrepreneurial training – along with professional certificate programs in aviation, real estate, health professions and more.

In addition, the program has a College for Kids (including the upcoming Build Your Own Summer Camp program), exciting excursions to South Africa and the United Kingdom, and more. There are also many classes offered online to accommodate busy working professionals.

Most weeknight classes are at SMC’s Bundy Campus, 3171 S. Bundy Dr. in Los Angeles, located conveniently at the Santa Monica Airport with ample free parking. Weekend classes held on the main SMC campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., also come with free parking.
