Twilight Dance Series Begins 21st Season:

The Santa Monica Pier Twilight Dance series begins its 21st season tomorrow night.

The most venerable and venerated concert series on The Westside will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and run for ten Thursdays, ending on September 1. All concerts are free.

The Easy Star All-Stars presenting “Dub Side of the Moon” with Detour Posse, L.A.’s own Reggae band, will open the series tomorrow night.

As ever, the series’ musical menu is an eclectic mix of bands and solo performers.

Among the musicians scheduled to perform on the Pier deck over the summer are Little Joe Y La Familia, Chicago Blues legends, Suzanne Vega and Marc Cohn, Super Diamond, and Buckwheat Zydeco.

This summer, for the first time, the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation has invited the Santa Monica Interfaith Council to create Path to Hope, which it describes as “a journey to hope through the power of music.” Each week of the series, ten designated charities will offer information about their organization, recruit volunteers and collect donations.

As it has for 21 years, King & Company is producing the series, in association with the PRC.Parking is available in beach parking lots that are located to the north and south of the Pier.
