Meals On Wheels West recruited the help of bicycle enthusiasts to help deliver meals to clients Thursday morning.
Teams were dispatched on client routes with hot and cold meals in their trailers.
With support from C.I.C.L.E., Santa Monica SPOKE, and Sustainable Streets, the volunteers cruised the bicycle friendly streets of Santa Monica.
These volunteers, like the daily volunteers who use cars, delivered food and friendship to residents who are unable to shop and prepare nutritious meals for themselves.
The services of Meals On Wheels West aids those with limited mobility due to age, disability or chronic illness to be comfortable in their own homes.
The March for Meals event is part of a national campaign to highlight the services of Meals On Wheels programs throughout the country and increase awareness of senior hunger.
Each night more than six million Americans over the age of 60 go to sleep hungry because they lack the money or mobility to obtain food.
