Good Soldier, Good Play, Good Cause:

On November 3, 2004, the day after George Bush was elected to a second term, screenwriter Nick Kazan began writing a play. Eight days later, he had the first draft of A Good Soldier, which has been loosely described as Antigone in Iraq.

Kazan, whose screenplay for Reversal of Fortune was nominated for an Oscar, went on to finish the play, and it will have its world premiere on Thursday, June 30, at the Odyssey Theater at 8 p.m.

Directed by Scott Paulin and produced by Laura Shapiro, it stars a group of young actors and Hollywood veteran Clancy Brown.

CODEPINK will hold a benefit on opening night. A reception with light refreshments will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35 for the reception and play, $25 general admission, and $20 for students and seniors. Proceeds will benefit CODEPINK LA.

Call the LA CP office at (310) 827-4320 to RSVP and reserve your seats (seating limited). The Odyssey is located at 2055 South Sepulveda Boulevard in West L.A.
