Los Angeles City Controller and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel will speak to students, parents, and local residents at Windward School on Friday, April 26.
She will discuss the current election and answer select questions from those in attendance.
The event is part of the middle school political science and history curriculum, providing students with an opportunity to speak directly with candidates and witness the electoral process first-hand.
Greuel’s visit is sponsored by the Windward Institute, which brings faculty, parents, students, alumni, and the educational community together to engage in the exploration of and dialogue about groundbreaking ideas.
The primary mission of the Institute is ongoing educational research and the generation of transformative ideas and practices.
Other recent speakers who have visited Windward’s campus include: Governor Michael Dukakis, former Presidential candidate; Big Sunday Founder and Executive Director David Levinson; Ted Braun, Writer/Director of the acclaimed 2007 documentary film “Darfur Now;” and Dr. Laurie Leshin, Mars Curiosity Rover team member and Dean of the School of Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Windward is sponsoring this event for educational purposes and for the benefit of the local community; it does not reflect endorsement of any political candidate or party.
LA City Councilman Eric Garcetti was unable to participate in this discussion, but Windward is working to try and schedule a date for him to speak as well.
Windward is located at 11350 Palms Boulevard, Los Angeles.
