Share Your Ideas For Making Walking Safer In Santa Monica:

The City of Santa Monica wants community feedback on ways to make streets safer for pedestrians.

The City of Santa Monica is inviting residents and visitors to share their ideas for making walking safe and enjoyable for everyone everywhere in the city.

This week’s featured question is: “If there were one symbol that represented walking in Santa Monica, what would it look like, and what would you name it?”

Community residents are invited to talk about this and other questions online at “http://pedplan.santamonicatownhall.org.”

Last week’s Featured Question of the Week raffle winner was: Dennis Erickson. He won a $5 gift card by answering the question “What are your ideas for making it easier to walk from your home to places you need to go?”

Dennis’ ideas include increased shade from street trees, wider and well-maintained sidewalks, better-timed lights for pedestrians, and more benches.

Community members who participate in the Pedestrian Action Plan on line benefit not only by helping make Santa Monica a better place to walk, but also because they become eligible for prizes.

The website features several topics related to walking in Santa Monica, from where people like to walk and where safety improvements are needed, to how they plan to get to future Expo stations.

Community members can share their ideas, upload photos, add comments, and support ideas from other residents. Input received will be used to shape Santa Monica’s Pedestrian Action Plan to make sure residents and visitors can continue to walk the walk.
