A cartoon gag that I saw as a child
Is a fondly remembered treat:
Somebody rings a bell and then
A trapdoor opens under his feet.
Just a moment ago this fellow
Was happy and without a care
Now he’s screaming as he slips into
A chute down to who-knows-where.
Karl’s done this to his foes a lot
But I imagine that he never
Thought he’d be at a door like thatWith someone else pulling the lever.
