Los Angeles Galaxy To Honor Landon Donovan Sunday:

Fans are advised to arrive early Sunday when the Los Angeles Galaxy honors retiring record-setting forward Landon Donovan at his final regular-season Major League Soccer game at StubHub Center.

Stadium gates will open at 3:15 p.m. for season-ticket holders and 3:30 p.m. for all fans.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats no later than 5:20 p.m. when the Galaxy honors Donovan’s career with a special on-field celebration.

Additional parking will be available at SouthBay Pavilion on Del Amo Boulevard in the lot directly adjacent to the Sears store, with a free shuttle service taking fans to and from StubHub Center from 3-9 p.m.

Fans wishing to use preferred or valet parking at StubHub Center are encouraged to arrive as early as possible, as both are expected to sell out quickly.

With limited parking, fans are recommended to carpool to the game.

In order to route traffic around StubHub Center, there will be intermittent gate closures. Fans with specific gate entries can drive clockwise

around the center until they reach their designated gate to accommodate traffic flow.

Fans will have the opportunity to get their photo taken with the MLS Cup trophy from the Galaxy’s MLS Cup victories in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2012 from 3:15-5 p.m. as part of SoccerFest, located on the South Plaza at StubHub Center.

Fans can also show their thanks to Donovan by writing personal messages on the #ThanksLD canvas.

Upon entry into the stadium, fans will receive a No. 10 card and be encouraged to join in a stadium-wide Landon Donovan chant when the game clock reaches 10:00.

#ThanksLD signage will be featured in various locations in StubHub Center, with several signs including personal messages written by fans thanking Donovan, MLS’ career record holder for goals and assists.

The Galaxy Star Squad and other on-field participants will wear #ThanksLD shirts, with additional shirts being thrown into the crowd throughout the game against Seattle Sounders FC.

Thank you videos from fans will also be played before the game and at halftime on the StubHub Center video board.

The 32-year-old Donovan, considered the greatest American male soccer player, announced Aug. 7 he would retire at the end of the MLS season.
