Real estate brokerage site Movoto has published an article on the best dressed suburbs across the USA, ranking Santa Monica as number one out of 140 “suburbs” looked at.
According to Movoto, Santa Monica has a clothing store for every 1,246 people, a shoe store for every 5,279 people, a jewelry store for every 5,279 people, and a dry cleaner for every 1,282 people — three perfect first place scores in Movoto’s analysis.
“The all important Best Dressed Suburb 2015 award proudly goes to Santa Monica,” according to Movoto. “It wasn’t even that close, as Santa Monica took the gold medal in not one, not two, but three of our Best Dressed Categories.”
How did Movoto make the list?
According to the blog post, it used Yelp to put together criteria to figure out just where the best suit fits, including number of high-end clothing stores for women, high-end clothing stores for men, and high-end shoe stores.
“Each of these categories is an important rung on the ladder to fashion stardom,” the blog said. “For instance, you need the fancy clothing stores to be able to buy the best clothes.”
Movoto also looked at the number of tailors and dry cleaners as well, adding “You also need to be able to keep them looking their best, so we made sure to include tailors and dry cleaners as well. The more of those in a suburb, the more people must be using them.”
