Palisades Girls Win City Tennis Title:

Palisades High has a long history of success in tennis, but until last weekend the school’s girls team hadn’t won the L.A. City championship since 1998.

That changed with a 6-1 victory over Carson in a match between two teams arriving with 15-0 records.

The Palisades boys and girls teams have combined to win 43 championships in school history.

Bud Kling, who coaches both teams, guided the boys to their latest championship last season.

An array of star players have excelled for Dolphin teams. The latest is Katy Nikolova, a sophomore who appears to have a bright future. Both Nikolova and Krista Slocum swept their singles sets.Carson reached the final due to outstanding depth but couldn’t match Palisades’ star players in the showdown match.
