Football

Venice High won its’opening game in the L.A. City football Championship Division playoffs, 37-34 over Jordan. Venice was seeded 7th and Jordan 10th. Second round games are scheduled for Wednesday night due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Venice will play at Crenshaw.

University High, playing in the L.A. City Invitational Bracket involving teams ranked 17th through 32nd, routed Grant 54-20. The second round opponent Wednesday night will be Wilson.

Lighthouse Christian will play a CIF 8-man football playoff game Friday at Desert Chapel. Following its victory in its playoff opener last Friday, 64-14 over Skyward Christian of Tujunga at University High.

Girls’ Volleyball

Brentwood was eliminated from the CIF Dividion 4-AA playoffs in the quarterfinals by Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada, 25-13, 25-22, 25-15. Brentwood finished its season with a 24-4 record.

Girls’ TennisTop-seeded Brentwood won a CIF Division 3 match from Chadwick, 16-2. Brentwood has a 14-4 record.
