A 44-year-old homeless woman was arrested in Santa Monica on Monday, Dec. 21, after resisting arrest after being intoxicated in public.

At approximately 4 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a report that an aggressive woman who had followed a resident into a secured building in the 1100 block of Seventh Street and was harassing elderly occupants who lived on the second floor of the building.

The officers sped to the location with their lights flashing and their sirens screaming and when they arrived they saw that the suspect appeared to be highly intoxicated.

The officers escorted the suspect out of the building and as they were doing so they noticed that the suspect’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and that she appeared to be disheveled and unkempt.

The suspect also made several attempts to propel spittle at the officers and during one such attempt she bit the gloved hand of an officer who attempted to protect himself from the salivary projectile.

The officers then arrested this woman and put her in the back of a police patrol vehicle where she continued her antics and at one point smashed her own head against the plexi-glass divider that was installed in the vehicle.

This 44-year-old homeless woman was taken to jail where she was later charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Bail was set at $10,000.
