Marc O’Regan, a local physician assistant and acupuncturist, who went to Pakistan following the devastating earthquake last October, will give a report on his journey at the Topanga Peace Alliance’s monthly film night at 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Yoga Desa in the Pinetree Center on Topanga Boulevard, across from the Post Office. On October 8, 2005, a 7.9 earthquake hit Kashmir in Pakistan. The quake epicenter was near a town called Gori, 60 miles north of the capital city of Islamabad. In the days that followed 87,350 were confirmed dead, 2.5 million were left homeless and the number of injured grew daily. By October 16, Todd Shea, whom O’Regan had worked with in New Orleans, had assembled a medical team in Pakistan for the NGO Operation Heartbeat that included volunteer physicians, physician assistants, nurses, medical technicians, paramedics and medical students. O’Regan joined the team on November 20. O’Regan plans to return to Pakistan shortly. To RSVP, please call Julie at 310-455-9389.
