KOREH L.A., The Jewish Federation’s literacy program, is looking for new volunteer “reading partners” for its early childhood initiative, PRE-K KOREH L.A. Volunteers will help three-to-five-year-old children at public schools throughout Los Angeles gain the reading skills they need to succeed. Since its inception in 1999, KOREH L.A. has become the largest public school literacy program in Los Angeles, with more than 4,000 reading partners who are paired one-on-one with at-risk children in classes ranging from pre-kindergarten to third grade. In just six years, the program has reached 100 local public schools and helped over 6,000 children become better readers. KOREH L.A. needs your help – all it takes is one hour a week and you can make a lasting impact on the life of a child. The next training session takes place April 3, 9:30am-12:30pm at the Jewish Federation Goldsmith Center, Room 10206505 Wilshire Blvd. To RSVP or for more information, call 323.761.8153 or e-mail literacy@jewishla.org
