Santa Monica Fifth Most Expensive Rental Market in U.S.

Santa Monica, according to a recent survey, is one of the top five most expensive cities in the United States to rent an apartment in.

According to Apartment Guide, Santa Monica is the fifth most expensive place in the country to rent a one-bedroom apartment in. The average price for a one-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica, according to the survey, is $3,786, 187 percent above the national average. With New York, San Franciso, Mountain View and Redwood City topping the list, Santa Monica’s ranking makes it the most expensive place to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Southern California.

Santa Monica is also ranked sixth in the nation when it comes to the price of renting both two-bedroom and studio apartments, respectively. Renting a studio apartment in Santa Monica on average costs $2,958 per month, 132 percent above the national average, while the average for a two-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica is $4,716, 200 percent above the national average.

Other Westside cities included in the top 10 include Culver City and Marina del Rey.
