During September and October, the Santa Monica Fire Department will be testing all the fire hydrants in the city; this consists of opening and closing hydrants to meter proper water flow. Tests will be conducted during normal business hours and will be performed so as to minimize water spillage and disruption of traffic. These tests are necessary to insure that the fire hydrants operate properly at the time of emergencies.
Citizens observing fire companies in their neighborhoods and water flowing in the street should not be alarmed.
