Santa Monica Beach Bike Path Reopens?

Supervisor Janice Hahn announces opening in Facebook post

By Sam Catanzaro

The beach bike path in Santa Monica is now reopened, a Los Angeles County Supervisor has announced.

According to a post on Supervisor Janice Hahn’s Facebook page, the 22-mile Marvin Braude Bike Trail–stretching from Pacific Palisades to Torrance passing through Santa Monica–is open as of Thursday.

There has been no announcement or post from Los Angeles County regarding this other than Hahn’s post. The City of Santa Monica said “We are waiting for the Department of Public Health to officially announce the reopening of the Bike Path,” in an email to the Santa Monica Mirror.

Los Angeles County beaches reopened May 13, but only for activities such as surfing, swimming and jogging. The reopening did not include the bike path that stretches from Pacific Palisades to Torrance.
