Rideshare to be Suspended as Santa Monica Implements Curfew for 5th Day

Curfew to go in effect Wednesday night

By Sam Catanzaro

Santa Monica will implement a curfew for the fifth consecutive day, which includes suspending rideshare trips in and out of the city.

According to the City of Santa Monica, the curfew will be in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday. Curfews of varying length have been in place since Saturday. This aligns with a Los Angeles County curfew.

“Curfews are set based on an overall assessment of the risks of conduct posing a threat to persons or property. The City will be reevaluating the circumstances each day to see whether a curfew remains necessary and if so what the appropriate start time for that curfew is,” the City said in a press release.

Emergency responders are exempt, as are those traveling to and from work or seeking or giving emergency care.

Under the curfew, Downtown parking structures will close at 6 p.m. In addition, rideshare and shared mobility service into Santa Monica will be suspended after 6 p.m.

Big Blue Bus is running normal weekday service, according to the City.
