Thursday, December 15 event to feature art, dance, Santa and more
A holiday-themed Locals’ Night is coming to the Santa Monica pier this week with art, music, dance, Marionettes, Santa Clause and more.
This month’s Local’s Night – hosted by the Santa Monica Pier Corporation – will take place on Thursday, December 15 from 3-9 p.m.
“The holidays highlight home, family, friends, and the value of gathering together, which is precisely the same theme of the Santa Monica Pier’s Locals’ Night series,” Santa Monica Pier Corporation said in a press release. “From the historic Merry Go-Round Building to the spectacular West End of the Pier, activities and entertainment will feature the best things about Santa Monica, including home-grown talent, seasonal storytelling and a couple of endearing nods to the past. “Locals’ Night: Holiday Cheer on the Pier Edition” promises a very special holiday journey to all who visit.”
Activities in the Merry-Go-Round building include children’s crafts, story time and face painting followed by evening performances by the Bob Baker Marionettes. Outside on the East Stage Deck, there will be music by McCabe’s Hootenanny. Meanwhile, the Pier Parking Deck will showcase interactive art and performance by Sea Change Lab, the Westside dream car show, live music by The Strands, roaming carolers from Santa Monica High School Choral Department and photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus. The Pacific Park Stage will host dance performances by Arthur Murray Dance Studio and Santa Monica Ballet Folklorico while the West End of the Pier will feature DJing from Sea Change Lab.
Santa Monica Pier’s Locals’ Nights take place on the third Thursday of every month from September through May with all entertainment and activity programming provided by Santa Monica organizations and Pier businesses offering specials specifically to Santa Monicans, all upon the world-famous Santa Monica Pier.
“While the event is not exclusive to Santa Monica residents, this is the Pier’s way of giving back to the community that has supported the Pier for over 113 years,” the Pier Corp said.
