Display of red, yellow and green colors, patterns and transitions beginning at sunset February 1
On Wednesday, February 1, the Pacific Wheel on the Santa Monica Pier will honor Black History Month with a dazzling display of red, yellow and green colors, patterns and transitions beginning at sunset.
For four years now, the Santa Monica Black History Month Committee has proudly provided programming to the public that is informative, inspirational, fun and increasingly representative of the city’s diverse histories, communities and cultures. The Pacific Wheel features 174,000 LED lights mounted on its 40 spokes and two hubs. The lighting system offers 16.7 million color value combinations while the programming and display software provides imaging up to 24 frames per second for a dynamic and custom illumination experience. The eco-friendly LEDs give an 81 percent greater energy savings than traditional incandescent bulbs.
Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is LA’s only admission free amusement park with 12 rides, 14 midway games, an oceanfront food plaza and seaside retail shopping – all subject to prices and operating hours which are subject to change.
