Santa Monica’s Decker Gets Pac-10 Weekly Honor:

Former Santa Monica High star Cody Decker has been named Pac-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the first time in his two years at UCLA.

         Decker was selected for the week that ended April 15, in which he hit a home run in three straight games in UCLA’s wins at USC.

         Decker batted .538 in the series and has a .421 average in UCLA’s nine Pac-10 games, which have produced eight wins.

         Overall, Decker leads UCLA this season in home runs with 10 and RBI with 36. He hit his 10th Saturday, April 21 against Cal State Northridge as the Bruins won a doubleheader and improved their record to 21-16.

         The sophomore hit six home runs in only 63 at-bats in his freshman season.

         Decker has been playing first base and being used as UCLA’s Designated Hitter.       After playing a non-conference series against Cal State Northridge last weekend UCLA will be home this weekend (Jackie Robinson Stadium) against first place Arizona.
