Friday the 13th
Friday, April 13 at 10:20 p.m. – The Pier – A man went into the restroom and saw a fellow writing graffiti on the wall with a marker. The witness contacted a security officer from Pacific Park, who contacted Santa Monica police. The witness pointed out the tagger to responding officers, who arrested him for vandalism in violation of Penal Code section 594 (“Every person who maliciously commits any of the following acts…(1) Defaces with graffiti or other inscribed material.”)
Friday the 13th, Part 2
Friday, April 13 at 11:20 a.m. –Wahoo’s restaurant at 418 Wilshire Boulevard – Two men were having lunch when another man (hereinafter “Jason”) approached them, stared at them and then began yelling at them. One of the diners got up and tried to escort Jason from the area, but Jason – armed with an aluminum walking cane – pushed the diner and attempted to, or did, strike the diner with the cane. The diner wrestled Jason to the ground, and witnesses called the police. Responding officers found Jason face down and bleeding on the street in front of Wahoo’s; he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and take to jail.
Strongarm on Stewart
Thursday, April 19 at 9:50 p.m. – 1800 block of Stewart Street – A man (Victim) walking down the sidewalk saw two other men (Suspects) across the street. The Suspects ran across the street, accosted the Victim and demanded that he hand over the backpack and briefcase he was carrying. One Suspect grabbed each item, and they fled on foot together. The Victim used a passerby’s cell phone to call the police, but the Suspects were “Gone on Arrival” when officers responded.
The Suspect who took the briefcase is described as a male Hispanic, age 20, 5’11”, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The Suspect who took the backpack is described as a male Hispanic, age 18, 5’10”, heavy build, black hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans with a “gang-style appearance.” No vehicle was seen.
Dozer on Ozone
Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. – Ozone Park, 700 block of Ozone Avenue – Earlier that afternoon, at 3:45 p.m., a resident called police and reported a woman walking along Lincoln Boulevard near Ozone trying the door handles of cars as she walked. There was no sign of the woman when officers responded. Then at 6:00 p.m. the same resident called police again and said that the same woman was sleeping or passed out in Ozone Park. Responding officers wakened her and found a cylindrical 4” bottle that had been fashioned into a pipe for smoking crack cocaine. The woman acknowledged that she was on parole. She was arrested for possession of a rock cocaine pipe and for parole violation.
