Bromberg Pitches Palisades to Playoff Victory, 2-0:

In the playoffs, pitching depth is often an important ingredient.

Palisades High, the Western League champion and No. 4 seed in the Los Angeles City Section championship Division baseball tournament, is armed with two quality pitchers and displayed the talent in an opening round 2-0 victory over Sylmar on Wednesday, May 23.

Johnny Bromberg won his ninth game of the season by frequently escaping jams, and gave way to Cole Cook for the final inning.

Cook, an established starting pitcher with eight wins who has committed to play for Pepperdine next season, earned his first save of the season.

Bromberg delivered the game’s biggest hit, a sixth inning win-scoring double.

Top-seeded Chatsworth and No. 2 seed Kennedy won their games, but No. 3 seed Narbonne lost to Bell.

Palisades also won its second round game Friday, May 25, over Roosevelt, and will play at Chatsworth in the semifinals.

In the Invitational Division comprised of teams ranked 17th through 32nd, Venice won its opening game over Verdugo Hills, 12-11, but then was eliminated by Hamilton.
