Santa Monica College to Be Smoke-Free:

In a move sure to please health advocates everywhere, the Santa Monica College Board of Trustees has voted to ban smoking on campus.

The measure, supported by the majority of board members and many students and teachers, will not even allow special smoking areas anywhere at the College. At this time, it is not known when the ban will go into effect.

The smoking ban at SMC gives Santa Monicans one less place to light up. Previously, the Santa Monica City Council has banned smoking in parks, at the beach and on the Third Street Promenade.
