The Eagles SC of Camarillo, featuring Samantha Greene from Santa Monica and Amanda Lisberger of Pacific Palisades, has won the California State Soccer Championship and a regional tournament in Las Vegas to qualify for the national championships on July 25-29 in Texas.
Greene has been a star at Santa Monica High and was Ocean League Player of the Year.
Eagles SC won its first match in Las Vegas, 3-0 over the Alaska champions, and then defeated the best team from Hawaii, 4-0.
The final early round match was an 0-0 tie with a team from Colorado, but Eagles SC moved on to the next round and a 2-0 win over Spokane, the champion of the state of Washington. In the championship match against a team known as the Slammers, it was tied 1-1, and required a shootout. Eagles SC then scored the winning goal.
