Brentwood Cruises To Easy Win:

Playing in the rugged Alpha League, the Brentwood School football team doesn’t have many games when it wins easily and can rest star players.

But in a 48-22 victory over Marshall at Pasadena City College Friday night, October 19, Coach Patrick Brown did enjoy that luxury.

Midway through the second quarter most of his starting defensive unit came out and didn’t return, and playing time went to four junior varsity players who had been promoted to the varsity.

Brentwood, which hadn’t given up a touchdown in five of its victories, did sacrifice some points on this occasion but none of the scoring came against its regulars.

As a result, Brentwood is well rested for its homecoming game Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m. against Whittier Christian, one of the league’s strongest teams. Whittier Christian will arrive with a 5-2 record.

Mason Moss threw three touchdown passes. Josh Amster, who alternated with Moss at quarterback last season but is playing wingback now, caught two of them. And running back Tate Foreman gained 101 yards on seven carries and scored two touchdowns.

Brentwood led at halftime, 40-6, and didn’t require the services of defensive stars Ian Shaw, Charlie James, and Justin Ostroff after that.

The game on Saturday, October 27 will be Brentwood’s third and final one at home this season. Should the team qualify for the playoffs it will play away because the CIF schedules Friday night games and the Brentwood field doesn’t have lights.
