A teach-in on the U.S. war in Iraq was held at Santa Monica College on Thursday, November 29. The event was organized by the Associated Students and the Inter-Club Council, and featured guest speakers, panels, and films during the day. Jabbar Magruden (pictured), a member of both the National Guard and Iraq Veterans Against the War, spoke at the teach-in. He told of his experiences during a tour in Iraq, and his opposition to the illegality of the occupation. He clarified that he is not a conscientious objector because he is not inherently opposed to all wars. He has testified before Congress, expressing his views and experiences. Magruden urged participants to realize that everyone is responsible for ending the war.
