The Santa Monica Vikings varsity football team suffered a 42-0 shutout loss to the Laguna Beach Breakers in a non-conference road game on Friday, dropping their season record to 1-1, according to game stats reported by MaxPreps.

Laguna Beach (2-0) dominated with a balanced offensive attack, led by junior quarterback Jack Hurst, who threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-27 passing. His primary target, junior Will Kimball, caught four passes for 55 yards and two scores. Senior Jack Hooper added a kickoff return touchdown, while freshman C. Both teams committed seven penalties, but Laguna Beach capitalized on their opportunities, including three interceptions and a fumble recovery by their defense.

Santa Monica, ranked 5,747 nationally and 375 in California, will look to rebound when they face the Burroughs Bears (0-1) in Burbank on Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. Burroughs, ranked 6,516 nationally, is coming off a 49-0 loss in their season opener.
