This year’s classic Santa Monica New Year’s event has the theme “More Trees, Less Bush” with a midnight ceremony in honor of saving the trees in Santa Monica. There will also be a vegetarian food buffet and entertainment by comedians Rick Overton, Denise Munro Robb, David Zasloff, and Larry Hankin, as well as music with The Peace Tree, Ross Altman, and KPFK’s Maria Armoudian. 7pm, $20-$30, Church in Ocean Park, 235 Hill St., 310.399.1000.
