Local DAR Contest Winners:

The Beverly Hills Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored this year’s Historical Essay Contest winners from Brentwood’s St. Martin of Tours School at a special tea celebration, where the students were presented with medals and flags.

And the winners are:

Grade 5

First Place: Charlie Trepany

Second Place: John Reese Coles

Grade 6

First Place: Christopher Alexander

Second Place: Janelle Lew

Grade 7

First Place: Jamie Marvil

Second Place: Angela Funk

Grade 8

First Place: Catherine Haber

Second Place: Matas Empakeris

Christopher Alexander, Catherine Haber, Jamie Marvil, and Charlie Trepany also won the District Contest in a competition with eight other Chapters. Their essays will be entered in the State competition. The District Judges praised these students for the content and composition of their essays.

The teachers at St. Martin of Tours School who assisted in the project included Mrs. Jeanne Newman, the coordinator of the DAR Essay Contest, Mrs. Anne Conte, Mrs. Mary Newsom, Ms. Julia Oates-Ulrich, and Ms. Elterman.
