County Awards Final Round of Resiliency Fund for Businesses Affected by ICE

The fund was established last fall in response to reported revenue declines, workforce disruptions and reduced customer traffic tied to immigration enforcement.

Los Angeles County has distributed the final round of its Small Business Resiliency Fund, bringing total assistance to more than $5.4 million for 1,327 businesses affected by immigration enforcement actions.

The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity announced the third and final distribution Wednesday. The latest round included $300,000 in discretionary funding, with contributions from Supervisors Holly J. Mitchell and Lindsey P. Horvath, plus countywide allocations.

Of the businesses supported overall, 839 were storefronts, 409 were street vendors, and 79 were independent contractors or home-based operations. Retail trade accounted for 31% of recipients, followed by restaurants at 25% and other sectors such as wholesale, manufacturing, healthcare and construction at 22%.

Grants ranged from $2,000 to $5,000 and were intended to help cover essential expenses including rent, payroll, inventory, marketing and debt repayment.

The fund was established last fall in response to reported revenue declines, workforce disruptions and reduced customer traffic tied to immigration enforcement. It was created following a motion by Supervisors Hilda L. Solis and Janice Hahn.

Businesses not selected in the final round will be referred to other county resources and technical assistance programs.
