Flagging crews will manage alternating traffic on a two-mile stretch of State Route 27.
Commuters traveling between the San Fernando Valley and the coast should expect overnight traffic delays on Topanga Canyon Boulevard this week as state transit crews begin preparatory work for an upcoming repaving project.
The California Department of Transportation scheduled the nighttime operations to run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Monday night and concluding Saturday morning.
The work zone spans approximately two miles along State Route 27, beginning at the Pacific Coast Highway intersection and extending north into the canyon. Motorists will encounter one-lane traffic control throughout the designated hours, with flagging crews stationed along the route to guide alternating directions of traffic through the open lane.

The weeklong operation involves preliminary pavement preparation. Caltrans officials noted that these initial adjustments are required before crews can officially resume full roadway resurfacing along the route on June 22, focusing on the stretch of State Route 27 between Pacific Coast Highway and a point just north of Happy Trail.
Caltrans is advising drivers to allow extra travel time during overnight construction hours or to use alternate canyon routes to avoid delays and to check for traffic updates on Caltrans’ Quickmap.
