Brentwood split its first six games as Logan Kinsey pitched all 40 innings, recording a 1.75 ERA while striking out 57 batters and walking only 11.

In recent games, Brentwood routed Archer, 28-1, defeated Viewpoint, 5-3, and was shut out by Marymount, 6-0.

Leslie Scholtz is batting .529 and Cinnamon Frost is at .500.

Samohi has a 4-3 record following a 5-1 loss to Peninsula. In other recent games, Samohi lost to California High of  Whittier, 5-4, and Sunnyside High of Tucson, Arizona, 3-2, and defeated Lancaster, 10-0.

Coach Debbie Skaggs annually arranges a difficult non-league schedule to compensate for the fact there isn’t a lot of competition in the Ocean League, which the Vikings have won five straight years.
