Co-Owner of Venice Originals Skate Shop Passes at 50

A large, fit man known for his welcoming presence and kind demeanor, Jones was remembered as a dedicated community figure.

Aubrey Jones, known in the Venice community as Bobby Bliss and co-owner of the Venice Originals Skateboard Shop, has died. He was 50.

Jones passed away last week, according to a tribute from Venice Paparazzi, a local media outlet with which he maintained a friendship for more than 20 years.

A large, fit man known for his welcoming presence and kind demeanor, Jones was remembered as a dedicated community figure who blended business acumen with personal generosity. He collaborated with Venice Paparazzi on several initiatives, including brainstorming a locals discount card, sponsoring photo booths and providing custom screen-printed merchandise for the outlet and related projects such as Kettlebell Boxing.

When a Venice Paparazzi associate faced cancer, Jones offered support by delivering supplements multiple times, the tribute said. The two would often discuss training and fitness when they crossed paths at Gold’s Gym or elsewhere in the neighborhood.

“Bobby was a large, fit, capable guy without the need to act hard,” the tribute stated. “Bobby had a rare combination of welcoming energy, an open mind, and contained danger.”

Jones was described as a dedicated learner with wide-ranging interests in peptides, healthy lifestyles and disease research. He frequently shared new information during conversations, according to the outlet.

“He was a genuine light in the Venice Community and will be greatly missed,” Venice Paparazzi wrote. “Our condolences and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
