Drivers should expect lane reductions and intermittent road closures on Allenford Avenue through Aug. 9 as crews install new underground electrical infrastructure as part of the Pacific Palisades rebuilding effort, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The work is taking place along Allenford Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard and is part of LADWP’s Palisades Permanent Rebuild project. Contractor Doty Bros. is excavating and backfilling trenches to install underground electrical equipment along the Sunset Corridor.
According to a construction notice issued by LADWP, preliminary utility investigations took place through July 24. During that phase, Allenford Avenue remained open but reduced to a single lane in various locations while traffic flaggers directed vehicles through the work zone.
Starting on July 25 and continuing through Aug. 9, crews are expected to install underground electrical substructures. During that portion of the project, single-block segments of Allenford Avenue may be closed entirely at times, with flaggers directing motorists to alternate routes.
Digital message boards have been placed on Sunset Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard to alert drivers to traffic changes and detours.
Construction is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
