Get Involved: Climate Action Day:

Santa Monica City is hosting a Climate Action Summit Saturday, October 29, to help formulate the City’s next Climate Action & Adaptation Plan.

The event will be held at Saint Monica Catholic Community Grand Pavilion, 725 California Ave., Santa Monica and begins at 9 a.m. with a “Kidical Mass” ride.

“Santa Monicans are incredible stewards of the environment and have made leaps in reducing our carbon emissions, using solar, switching to electric vehicles and public transit, and much more,” said Santa Monica City Mayor Tony Vazquez. “This is the beginning of the next chapter in our environmental leadership, and it’s imperative that the community build this plan with us to imagine what a carbon neutral Santa Monica might look like.”

The event offers everyone the opportunity to come and collaborate on the next stage of Santa Monica’s climate policy, the City said.  “The Summit is part of a ground-up visioning process that will eventually result in the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), a framework that will launch in late 2017, with goals to be met by 2050.”

According to organizers, the day-long event will feature engaging dialogue, dynamic crowd-sourced talks, known as Pecha Kucha, and a networking social hour.
