The Last Date?
Tuesday, April 13, 12:20 a.m. Officers were called to the area of 14th Street and Pearl in response to a domestic violence incident. When they arrived, some witnesses told the cops that they had seen a man standing over a woman, and appeared to be choking her with his hands (it can be safely assumed that he was not checking for a pulse). Officers located the woman a short distance away, and when they spoke with her she stated that she was in the throes of a dating relationship with the man in question (it takes a few dates to really get to know someone, right?). She also explained that they had been involved in an argument in her apartment, the topic of which was the friendship of this woman and another man (control issues, perhaps?). This woman told the cops that she had decided to stop arguing, and to take a shower (wash it out of her hair, and out of her mind?). The woman then said that as she was in the shower she heard the man yelling so she went outside to see what this commotion was all about. When she arrived outside the man pushed her to the ground, and held her down. The cops took note of some physical injuries on this woman, and so the suspect, a 25-year-old man, of Hollywood, was arrested for battery on a subject that was involved in a dating relationship. The suspects’ bail is $20,000.00.

Wednesday, April 14, 12:04 a.m. Officers were told by a witness about some people who had been trying to sell some bicycles in the area of 9th Street and Wilshire Boulevard, and when the witness involved had refused to purchase (and evidently displayed suspicious facial expressions) these bike peddlers had left towards the beach. The officers caught these guys, and indeed saw that they were in possession of four stolen bicycles, that they were attempting to load onto an MTA bus. The cops spoke to them, and then arrested these two guys, one aged 32, and the other aged 30, and wheeled them off to jail, where they were saddled with the following charges: For the 32-year-old there was burglary, possession of stolen property, theft and probation violation. And for his junior partner: Burglary, possession of stolen property and theft. One wonders if they had thought they had been framed as they pondered their bail of is $81,000.00 and $50,000.00 respectively.

Wednesday, April 14, 7:43 p.m. Officers were patrolling the 400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard looking for criminals when they saw a man riding his bicycle on the sidewalk, and that, as we all know, is a crime in violation of Santa Monica Municipal Code 3.12.540MC, so they questioned him. This guy refused to give his name (not advised), so the cops called a supervisor, who was able to apply some form of name to this violator. The cops were still unable to get confirmation of his name, so they arrested him for the municipal code offense. This 28-year-old man’s bail was $500.00
