Latest police, crime and courts news.

Four out of 15 passengers, as well the driver of a Metro bus, were hospitalized with minor injuries Saturday morning after the vehicle crashed into a tree in Westwood Village.

“The driver reported that she just blacked out. She’s being medically treated now,” said Lt. Raymond Marquez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division. He added that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor in the accident.

The crash occurred at 2:10 a.m. in the 10600 block of Wilshire Boulevard, Marquez said.

Paramedics dispatched to the scene rushed five people to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Police Department.

A videographer at the scene said it appeared the westbound bus struck a bus bench, a tree and a wall.
