New Big Blue Bus Expo Service Plan Now Available:

Between July and October 2014, Big Blue Bus says it received more than 12,300 individual written and verbal comments through email, survey, letters, public meetings, and workshops regarding the initial iteration of proposed changes to BBB service regarding Expo Light Rail service integration.

As a result of the feedback received on many items, the original proposed plan was revised significantly.

For example, Route 2 and Route 8 service to UCLA will remain the same as the current service and service between UCLA and Santa Monica along Montana Ave (current Route 3M) will also remain, as part of a new route proposed to be called “Route 18”.

BBB staff will conduct a workshop with City Council members this Tuesday, Dec. 16 and then a final plan will be available for public review prior to a City Council Public Hearing in March 2015.

If the plan is approved in March, BBB’s Planning team and all staff will start preparing for service changes anticipated to come in two phases: minor adjustments in August 2015 and major adjustments in Spring 2016 when the Expo Line opens.

As part of this major project, additional vehicles and hundreds of new bus stops will be required.
