Tacos Tu Made opening in former Obica space

A popular taco spot is opening its first Santa Monica location.

Tacos Tu Madre will soon be coming to Santa Monica as reported by What Now Los Angeles. This restaurant will be the fifth location for the chain of Mexican restaurants at 606 Broadway Ste. 100, the former site of Obicà Mozzarella Bar.

What Now Los Angeles estimates that the restaurant may open by spring or summer of this year after approval for a liquor license for the location is granted..

Joshua Pourgul, the owner of the chain, started with one restaurant in Westwood in 2015 and has since expanded to Hancock Park, Los Feliz and West Hollywood.

In describing their menu, their website says this, “Since 2015, Tu Madre has been making tacos and breakfast burritos with love in a small and colorful shop in Westwood. Our food celebrates flavors from across the city with a diverse array of ingredients and cooking techniques, including slow-roasted and braised meats and house-made fermented chili salsas. Plant-based tacos, burritos, and bowls are available so vegans can fiesta too. Our red velvet churros have been a sweet staple since opening.”
