Portland Man Arrested On Third Street Promenade After Throwing Cup Of Water:

A 32 year-old man from Portland, Oregon, was arrested on the Third Street Promenade on Thursday, Dec. 4, after throwing a cup of water at a woman.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department patrolling the Third Street Promenade received a radio call at 7 pm informing them a man had been throwing water at people near their location.

When the officers arrived at the location the situation was fluid with both the victim and suspect present at the scene.

The officers intervened and spoke with the victim while simultaneously detaining the suspect.

The victim, with verbal support from witnesses, told officers the suspect had spontaneously began to yell profanities at her and had then thrown a cup of water at her, drenching her face, chest, and arm.

The officers then told the suspect why they were detaining him and he acted with surprise, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about, it wasn’t me!”

The victim said that she was desirous of a prosecution and so this Oregon man was arrested and charged with assault and battery. Bail was set at $20,000.
