Digicorp, Inc. of Santa Monica announced that it has entered into a non-binding arrangement to acquire the Latino music web site PerreoRadio.com and its assets. Digicorp is a digital media company focused on developing and acquiring content, software, and early stage companies; it currently operates two wholly owned subsidiaries, Rebel Crew Films, Inc., which distributes Spanish language films, and iCodemedia, which aims to provide podcasting and media applications and services. Quattro President Russell Binder said the company is “excited at the opportunity to represent and re-launch [the show] to licensees and into the retail market.” The Big Comfy Couch is produced in Canada and distributed in the U.S. by Amity in association with presenting station Nashville Public Television. Quattro is a licensing and merchandising agency that serves various entertainment and lifestyle clients including Lions Gate Entertainment and Revolution Studios, both of Santa Monica.Yahoo! Music of Santa Monica announced a new version of its music software application, the Yahoo! Music Engine. The upgraded product includes shared playlists, playlist accessibility, and improved portability synching. “The ability for users to create, manage, and search for playlists is a necessity for today’s music fans as they gain access to larger music libraries,” stated Dave Goldberg, Head of Yahoo! Music, an affiliate of Yahoo! of Sunnyvale, California. Yahoo! Music: music.yahoo.comTagWorld, an “integrated online social ecosystem” in Santa Monica, which provides publishing, communication, networking, and online commerce capabilities, announced that the venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (“DFJ”) has invested an undisclosed amount in the company. DFJ’s founder and Managing Director Tim Draper joins TagWorld’s Board of Directors. The company also announced that its new “My Store” social commerce product is now available to its over 750,000 members. The product allows members to bid and counter bid for the price of items in a negotiated non-auction fashion. TagWorld CEO Fred Krueger said he believes “we are in the early stages of a revolution in user-generated content.” TagWorld: www.tagworld .com.The Santa Monica law firm of Yuhl Rhames & Atkinson, LLP has filed suit on behalf of GreatMeals, USA, Inc., a company based in Washington, D.C., against former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman and the Miami, FL-based law firm of Greenburg Traurig LLP, alleging that the defendants conspired to transfer valuable economic opportunities to the brother of one of the law firm’s partners. The lawsuit, now pending in the Santa Monica branch of the Los Angeles Superior Court, arises out of an alleged contract whereby GreatMeals was to provide development and sales services for George Foreman Foods, a company to be owned by Mr. Forman, in connection with the sale of a line of food and other products.
