The second annual Animals A to Z on Saturday at New Roads High School in Santa Monica on Saturday is designed to introduce students, from pre-school through high school, to every sort of animal – from cats and dogs to to urban wildlife to elephants from Africa – and their places in the world.
In addition to acquainting visitors with the extraordinary variety of animals that inhabit the earth and their roles in their own eco system and the world at large, Animals A to Z also makes the case for humane treatment of the earth and all its animals.
Part-festival, part-workshop, it spotlights cutting edge field research and the latest scientific information on a variety of animals and eco-systems, and features interactive booths that showcase diverse animal welfare groups, such as the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, which work with whales, wild birds, opossums, parrots, skunk and raccoons, reptiles and rabbits, and the animals they rescue.
Throughout the day, experts will make presentations on a variety of topics.
The largest event of its kind in Los Angeles, it will also feature musical entertainment, crafts, food and drink, puppet shows, face painting, and a drawing for prizes.
