Cops Arrest Simi Valley Man For Headbutting Girlfriend Outside Santa Monica Bar: Alert Police Blotter: He Didn’t Use His Head By Using His Head.

A 22-year-old Simi Valley man was arrested Saturday, April 6 after hospitalizing his girlfriend when he head-butted her outside of a bar on Main Street.

At 1:40 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department, who had been assigned to foot patrol on Main Street, were flagged down by a citizen who informed them that there was a fight between a man and a woman in progress outside the Circle Bar, located at 2936 Main Street.

The officers rushed to the location and began to question the two people who had been fighting.

The officers soon discovered that this pair was in a “romantic relationship.”

The officers learned that the “romantic” part of this relationship had evidently been suspended that evening after they discovered that this couple had been involved in an argument, and during the course of this dispute, the “boyfriend” had decided to head-butt the “girlfriend” in the face.

As a result of this assault the woman had sustained injuries that were sufficiently serious for her to require treatment in a local Emergency Room.

The “boyfriend” was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon (head), and domestic violence.

Bail was set at $30,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner.
