Make Magic Come Alive At Santa Monica Playhouse This Saturday:

Santa Monica Playhouse Family Theatre presents “Enchanted Fairytale Interactive Holiday Theatre” only one more time this year – Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10:30 am to noon.

The 90-minute event is an exciting and entertaining theatre experience for kids ages 4 to 10 and their grown-ups, just the thing if the grandchildren are coming for vacation break, or moms and dads want to do something different and uniquely theatrical with their children.

Participants explore the magic of creativity for a totally interactive morning of storytelling, sing-a-longs, crafts, face painting, enactment of a fairytale, theatre games, refreshments, and special gifts.

Children get the chance to make new friends, create handicrafts, sing, dance, and act out a fairytale, as they all take over the stage for pure theatre fun.

Playhouse Director of Education Serena Dolinsky said the interactive theatre games help develop imagination and self-confidence.

“Hands-on prop-making allows children to explore their world through tangible materials they can manipulate, and receive creative fulfillment with instant results, using their prop as they act in the chosen fairytale, legend or folk story of the day,” Dolinsky said. “Parents work as partners by taking an active role in all aspects of the program. The experience also supports parents in their communicative and team-building efforts, while at the same time providing children with the confidence needed to excel in upcoming school programs and giving them a head start on learning, imagining and problem solving. But most of all – it’s fun!”

All craft materials plus free refreshments are included. Admission is $15 for children 4 to 10, one free adult admission with every paid child’s ticket; additional accompanying adults are $5 each.

Each guest also will also receive a special gift – an official Santa Monica Playhouse theatre activities coloring book.

Participation is limited to 15 families per event and advance reservations are required. For more information and to make reservations, call 310.394.9779 ext. 2 or visit SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com.

The Enchanted Fairytale Interactive Theatre programs are also available for pre-school field trips throughout the year.

Santa Monica Playhouse, currently celebrating its 53rd year of continuous theatrical and educational services to the community, is located at 1211 4th Street (between Arizona and Wilshire), one block east of the Third Street Promenade, in the heart of Downtown Santa Monica. Convenient parking is located directly across the street in municipal parking structure #1.
