Fireworks shows to mark the 239th anniversary of the nation's independence will be held tonight at several of Los Angeles County's iconic venues along with parks and high schools.

Pet owners are being urged to keep a close watch on their animals on the Fourth of July since fireworks frighten them.

There are many firework celebrations for the 4th of July on the Westside including Marina del Rey, Pacific Palisades, El Segundo, and Redondo Beach.

While the City of Santa Monica does not have a fireworks display on the 4th of July, there are many professional fireworks displays and events planned in and around the surrounding area.

Registration closes June 25 for groups wanting to take part in this year’s July 4 parade.
