The Santa Monica High School Athletic Booster Club is underwriting the addition of two murals to the exterior walls of the North gym on the Samohi campus.
Artist David Legasi, who has done murals at virtually all of the schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is painting these new murals. Covering the entire west wall of the gym, overlooking Fourth Street, the first painting will feature a huge head of Victor Viking along with the words “Home of the VIKINGS.”
The second mural will be a lifesize rendering of a Viking ship.
The purpose of the murals is to inspire school spirit in students, faculty and Samohi families as well as increasing community awareness of and interest in the Samohi Vikings athletic programs and teams.People who would like to contribute to the mural fund can send checks to Mural Project, Santa Monica High School Athletic Booster Club, Santa Monuca High School, attention: Jane Emhart, 601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, California 90405.
