The recently formed real estate firm, Deasy/Penner & Partners, is sponsoring two of the fall programs at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in West Hollywood.
Following up on the recent publication of Schindler by MAK, the events will take place on September 10th and October 2nd and include workshops and presentations on contemporary architecture, preservation and the future, as well as self-guided tours of well-known public architecture.
“We are thrilled that Deasy/Penner & Partners has decided to join in this partnership to celebrate Schindler and his legacy that remains so vibrant here in LA,” said Kimberli Meyer, Director for The MAK Center. “The firm is sincerely invested in helping to preserve that legacy and the MAK Center is incredibly grateful.”
“We are very excited to take part in these invaluable fall programs with the MAK Center,” said Mike Deasy. “A partnership such as this is a complement to our business… We believe the MAK Center is making a difference in the cultural world of Los Angeles and would not want to miss out on this opportunity to help them do so.”
MAK Day, Saturday, September 10, is R. M. Schindler’s birthday, the Center’s annual free day will feature presentations and discussions on contemporary life, architecture, preservation and the future. Docent-led tours of the Schindler House will take place throughout the day, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The MAK Architecture Tour, Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., will showcase some of Los Angeles’ exemplary modern homes. A cocktail party at the MAK Center will follow the tour.
The MAK Center seeks and supports projects and ideas that erase the line between art and architecture, functioning as a “think tank,” encouraging risk, experimentation and invention. It is based in modernist architect R. M. Schindler’s house and studio (1922), 835 N. Kings Road in West Hollywood.
